Hello, I’m Madeleine. I call myself a textile artist to keep my options open but my main practice is machine knitting. I use Brother mechanical and electronic (hacked and untouched) machines to create mathematically inspired fabrics.
I also teach machine knitting in my studio in Edinburgh, Scotland. www.madeleineshepherd.co.uk

Hello, I’m Laurent.
I’m a creative technologist and media artist based in France (Nantes), and I love alpacas
I use (live)coding, vintage hacked knitting machine, DIY pen plotter, electronics and mechanics to explore the fabulous world of algorithmic patterns.
You can see my projects on my website and follow my work on a more regular basis on mastodon (@lo@framapiaf.org).
I’m very happy and grateful to be able to follow the conference remotely.
Hi everyone! I’m Dave and I’ve been working with Alex for many years and currently mainly spend my time running Then Try This, a non-profit research organisation based in Cornwall, UK.
My work involves unpicking the material basis of ‘cyberspace’ and using this philosophy to make things that people can relate to and use better. Experiments include woven robots that dance around maypoles and using weaving to explore computational thinking. My favourite forms of weaving are the ones that stretch back into pre-history, such as tablet weaving, where you rotate cards to create braids. I’m working with Alex and Paola Torres Núñez del Prado for the festival, we’ll be showing how we can use Inca knots (khipu) to program the woven robots today(!) in the Winter Garden at 1PM in a public play session.
I also run workshops where we explore abandoned mines, and extract minerals which can be used as semiconductors in noisy circuits. We do this in Cornwall, where the memory of mining history is still just about present in local families, but we link it to modern technology, e-waste and geological time.
Hey,
I am a Shreya. I am a musician, currently pursuing a Master’s in Sound Design at the University of Edinburgh. With a background in Indian classical music, composition, and audio programming, her curiosity has led her to experiment at the intersection of tradition, technology, and cross-cultural collaboration.
