Zotero group

Hi all,

We had a nice zotero group going but annoyingly it’s got corrupted, with a lot of half-broken duplications and the categorisation has gone. If anyone happens to have an old version in zotero with categories etc, which they haven’t synced since ~July (when it seems a lot of the corruption happened), could you let me know? Even a screenshot of the categories we used to have would be super helpful. Thanks!

For now I removed all the group members while I sort this out…

I seem to still be able to access the category and file lists on my mobile, although I’m not sure how up-to-date my copy was… Here are the categories that I have:

Algorithmic culture
Architecture
Automation
Bell ringing
Computer Science
Dance
Design
Exhaustion
Geometry
Interfaces
Juggling
Liveness
Mathematics
Methods
Music
→ Percussion
Nature
Notation
Philosophy
Prehistoric
Ritual
Textiles
Wanted

I can’t see any obvious way to export the list of papers contained within each, but I could screenshot each category if that’s useful and a better solution doesn’t arise.

Hey @ideoforms, oh great thanks!

I’ve made a start tidying it up already, removing the duplicated entries was easy and have started re-categorising things so this is helpful, I’ll re-add (most of) them. I think I’ll just start again as it probably was far from perfect in the first place.

I’m just curious about what was in the ‘wanted’ category, so if you could share a screenshot of that I’d appreciate it!

I’ve worked out what went wrong so if folks would like to re-join, please do:
Zotero | Groups > Alpaca

There are handy PDFs for a lot of things but you’ll have to join to see/access them (and help recategorise things  )

Looks like only one thing was in the “Wanted” category: “Coding and Representation from the Nineteenth Century to the Present: Scrambled Messages” (Chapman and Hume, 2021)

I will see if I can track this down as it’s very close to my interest in acoustics and digital communications - will report back if I find a copy!
